Weird day at the academy. I mean, weird even by Elementa Academy standards

Today was another weird day at the academy. I mean, weird even by Elementa Academy standards. When I woke up this morning, the sky outside my window was swirling with green and purple clouds, like someone had mixed up the sky’s usual colors and decided to throw in some neon. That’s when I knew something was off.

At breakfast, the hall was buzzing. Apparently, Professor Lumina, head of the Ether Division, had detected an energy spike near the old library. I overheard some of the older students whispering about a “rift” opening, but no one seemed to know what that meant. The rifts are usually closed before anyone can notice, but today felt different—like the air itself was tense, thick with potential.

In my first class of the day, Arcane Theory, Mr. Alden gave us a pop quiz on element weaving, the practical application of combining different elements to form new spells. I thought I had it under control, but the second I tried to weave fire and wind together, the whole thing exploded in my face. The class had a good laugh, and my face was left singed, my pride scorched even more. I’m definitely going to have to practice that one after class.

Later, while walking to the training grounds, I ran into Alex—well, crashed into Alex is more like it. He was speeding through the halls like he always does, barely able to keep his lightning aura under control. He laughed it off, saying he was just practicing his new “Lightning Dash,” but I swear, one day he’s going to run right into a wall. Maybe that’ll teach him to slow down.

By the time afternoon rolled around, the energy in the academy had reached a fever pitch. The skies above were still a mess of swirling lights, and we were called into the main hall for an emergency assembly. Headmaster Veritas stood at the front, his presence commanding as always. He told us the rift near the library had grown larger, and something—or someone—might be coming through. He didn’t look worried, but there was a weight in his voice that made me feel uneasy.

I ended the day with a knot in my stomach. As I sat by the window, looking out at the swirling sky, I couldn’t help but wonder what tomorrow will bring. Something tells me it’s going to be a day I won’t forget.
